La mwmqreidite è un minerale mwmgpolimorfo da alta pressione dello mwmwzirconecite-ref-glass-1-11[1]. La reidite è stata osservata per la prima volta in laboratorio, in seguito in mwoaejecta generati dal cratere di Chesapeake Bay, recuperati sul fondale oceanicocite-ref-2[2]cite-ref-3[3]cite-ref-4[4], e infine nel mwrgcratere meteoritico di mwrwNördlinger Riescite-ref-5[5]. La reidite prende il nome da Alan F. Reid, che per primo la produsse in laboratorio e la studiòcite-ref-glass-1-12[1]. La reidite porta il numero 2001-013 dell'mwuaInternational Mineralogical Associationcite-ref-6[6].

Morfologia

La reidite è isostrutturale con la mwwascheelitecite-ref-7[7].

Origine e giacitura

La reidite richiede per la sua formazione alte temperature, tra i 1.000mwxw °C e i 2.000mwya °C occorre che lo zircone sia sottoposto a pressioni tra gli 8 e i 10 GPa (Giga Pascal = miliardi di mwyqPascal)cite-ref-8[8].
